Sok Yi, SRENG was born on 28 July 2000 in Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. She is the only daughter among the other three sons in the family who graduated from high school since 2018. Her parents are rice farmers. Her father studied only in grade 5 and her mother was in grade 7. Her older brother (21) studied until grade 8, he stopped studying and is currently working as a construction worker in his hometown. Her younger brother (17) stopped studying when he was in grade 7 and currently works in Phnom Penh City. Her youngest brother (14) is currently in grade 7 and, from time to time, he wants to stop studying to earn money to support his family.   Sok Yi comes to visit Royal University of Phnom Penh Her family does not have money to send her to continue higher education in Phnom Penh. Being Same-Sex Couples in Cambodia

There is only one happiness in this life, to love and to be loved. There is no right and wrong to love and be loved by someone from same or different sex. Same-sex marriage has been accepted and recognized by 26 countries in the world, started from Netherlands in 2000 and latest recognition in 2017 were Germany, Malta and Australia. Same-sex marriage is invalid in Cambodia. The Cambodian Constitution recognizes a marriage only between one husband and one wife. Although the late King Norodom Sihanouk had supported same sex relationship in 2004 via his public speech, there is no any law, policy or action taken to support same-sex couples until now. As resulted, the couples from lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer group (LGBT) have not been protected by Cambodian law.
